Tom Clifton

Hello to all of the Sekolah Buin Batu community. My name is Tom Clifton, and I am originally from a small town between London and Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

I have known from a very young age that English- writing it, reading it, and teaching it- was to be my major passion in life. After graduating from Queen Mary University of London with a BA Hons. in English, I spent time with a CELTA qualification working in Ukraine, Spain and Iraq teaching English as an acquired language at an array of language centres, private companies and a university.

Before life at SBB, I gained a UK-accredited PGCEi and worked in an International Baccalaureate school in The Kyrgyz Republic. There I facilitated Language and Literature and English Language Acquisition lessons across MYP and DP, as well as being responsible for the success of language learners across Middle and High School and the academic success of students in the IGCSE Programme.

Outside of teaching, I am a keen reader, traveller and eater, and you will be sure to see me with a book in hand either on townsite or around Sumbawa.

I am genuinely thrilled to be working alongside wonderful staff and to help continue to foster a culture of lifelong-learning for SBB’s students, preparing them to have boundless opportunities to positively change our world
