Welcome to Sekolah Buin Batu.

The school embodies a nurturing community of eager students, dedicated teachers, and a wonderful support staff.

Sekolah Buin Batu commenced operation in July, 2008 on the island of Sumbawa, Indonesia. The school specifically serves the dependants of employees and contractors of PT Aman Mineral Nusa Tenggara’s vast copper and gold mine here, known as the Batu Hijau Project.

Although the school is relatively new, it is the amalgamation of two pre-existing schools – Sekolah Nasional Buin Batu (SNBB) and Batu Hijau International School (BHIS). SNBB was established on 17th January 2000 in Townsite and BHIS in 1998 in Mataram. The staff primarily consists of Indonesian members complemented by expatriate teachers from Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, Malaysia, New Zealand, and the USA.

Head of School Welcome

We are fortunate to have an amazing school in such a beautiful part of the world, with pristine beaches and forests at our doorstep.

We are a compassionate community, comprising enthusiastic students, dedicated teachers, and support staff. Our teaching approach centers on cultivating the skill sets essential for success in the 21st century. In addition to delivering traditional academic content, we integrate critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills into every class, fostering an environment conducive to sustained student achievement.

Our teachers encourage intellectual curiosity, foster creativity and inspire excellence in ways that will provide success for all.

We are grateful for the support of Amman Mineral, whose partnership inspires us to strive for excellence and leave a lasting legacy of achievement.

You are welcome to visit and experience SBB for yourself. Walk through our school and talk with our students and you will begin to understand how they value the school and the education they are receiving. You will be impressed by their desire to learn, their respect and concern for others, and their potential to be future leaders in the world.

Education and training is something we are very passionate about, both academically and practically our learning journeys should never end. We must take every opportunity life affords us to seek to understand more about what is around us and increase our knowledge and expertise. We are grateful to be given this opportunity to support the Head of SBB, the teachers, the parents and most importantly the students.SBB’s facilities and programs provide our future leaders with every element needed for a highly successful learning environment. Strong foundations will be forged ensuring that when our students are ready for the next steps in their chosen life, opportunities will surround them everywhere they go and in everything they create.

Sekolah Buin Batu is a wonderful place to gain learning experience. We like the way students learn together by sharing their thoughts, presenting their ideas and solving problems together. This helps our children to be more critical thinkers, active and productive. Our children also love the new library!

Being a student of Sekolah Buin Batu for over ten years has taught me many things. The push for academic excellence and a supportive community shaped who I am as a student. The endless support from friends and teachers motivated me to push myself and do great things beyond what I thought I could do. I am forever grateful for the support from SBB and it is an honor for me to graduate from such a great school. SBB has prepared me well for my studies at Monash University in Australia, where I will be studying electrical engineering.
