World Scholar’s Cup Reflection

By: Kezia Yanello Togatorop

This year I had the opportunity to join the Worlds Scholars Cup 2024. I started my journey this May where I joined the regionals in Bali, Indonesia. Here, I met new friends who are also eager to join this competition. A few days ago, I ended my Global round in Bangkok, Thailand. This was my first ever WSC Global round and it might just be the best experience that I have ever gone through so far.

What I adore the most from the World Scholars Cup is how we are able to meet with new scholars who have the same aim from all across the globe. Scholars who participated for the experiences and the memories that we will create together. The highlight of this global round was being able to bond with other scholars throughout the week. During the Scavenger Hunt, we were divided into teams with other scholars from different countries and schools. At first, I was a little agitated during team lunch due to the fact that most of my team members were those who I was unfamiliar with at the beginning. However, as we started to work on the given tasks and tried the rides available at the theme park, our bond seemed to grow stronger. I was shocked to see how welcome everyone was in this event. The competition itself was not as tense as how I thought it would be. Even if we compete with experienced scholars, they would still manage to give me a sense of belonging and make me feel included.

Another fine moment that I love to cherish from this global round was the Cultural Fair. This is the time for us to explore new facts and traditional cuisines from a variety of cultures all in the same venue. We were able to exchange knowledge about our home country to a group of people and offer souvenirs as tokens of remembrance. Here, you are also given the chance to make friends from different backgrounds.

In a nutshell, my experience throughout this year’s World’s Scholar’s Cup is unforgettable and entering the competition alone might be the best decision that I have made this year. It is a place where we can exchange knowledge and learn from one another to enhance our skills. We are also given the opportunity to build connections with other international youths. The World Scholars Cup is definitely worth a shot!
